Matt and Katie Pearson
Dr. Matthew Steven Pearson has been the senior pastor here at Wynne Baptist since September of 2005. His passion is to lead this body to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in everyday living as well as during special evangelistic efforts to share His love. He challenges us each week with expository preaching of God’s Word, and he prays for us as he offers spiritual and directional guidance.
Coming to us from Alabama, he responded to God’s call to enter the Gospel Ministry during 1995, and was ordained in 1999 at Central Baptist Church in Decatur. After first receiving his B.A. from Auburn University, Bro. Matt then graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in December of 2003 with a Master of Divinity in Expository Preaching. On May 21, 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Practical Theology with a preaching emphasis from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
Our Pastor
He and his wife, Katie, have 2 sons, Luke (May, 2005) and Seth (December, 2006). He enjoys reading, playing golf, and spending time with Katie and the boys.
He began serving as our pastor in 2005, after pastoring in Amite, Louisiana. His ministry among us has involved sending as many as 10-12 different teams to as many different locations throughout the earth each year to share the Gospel of Christ. He is leading our church in an effort to reach a specific unreached people group...which involves a long-term commitment by Wynne Baptist to lead this group to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He has recently been nominated to the Executive Committee of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention.
